About this SSY calculator
Sukanya Smariddhi Yojana is a government-backed savings scheme for a girl child. Parents or guardians can open an account in the name of a girl below ten years and deposit up to ₹1.5 lakh a year. The account earns a fixed, government-declared interest rate and matures when the girl turns 21, though partial withdrawal is allowed for education after she turns 18.
This calculator assumes you invest the same amount every year until the girl turns 15, after which no further deposits are made but interest keeps accruing. It compounds the balance annually at the rate you enter and reports the maturity value, total invested, interest earned and the year the account matures.
The interest rate is set by the government each quarter, so update the rate field to the current one for a realistic estimate. Deposits qualify for deduction under Section 80C, and the interest and maturity amount are tax-free.
Use it to plan how much to set aside each year for your daughter's education or marriage. Even modest annual deposits grow substantially over 21 years thanks to compounding. Always verify the current rate and rules on the official India Post or bank website before investing.
