About this ROI calculator
Return on investment measures how much profit or loss an investment generates relative to its cost. It is one of the simplest and most widely used measures of investment performance, expressed as a percentage.
Enter the amount you invested and the amount you got back. The tool computes the net gain and the ROI as a percentage. A positive ROI means a profit, a negative one a loss.
ROI does not account for time. An investment that doubles in two years and one that doubles in ten years show the same ROI, even though the first is far better. For time-adjusted comparison, use the CAGR calculator.
Use ROI to compare different investments or business decisions on a like-for-like basis. It works for stocks, real estate, marketing campaigns and any spend where you can measure the return. Always pair it with risk and time horizon before deciding.
