PPF Calculator

Calculate your returns on Public Provident Fund (PPF).

About this PPF calculator

The Public Provident Fund is a long-term savings scheme backed by the government, with a 15-year lock-in that can be extended in blocks of five years. It offers a fixed, government-declared interest rate and qualifies for tax deduction under Section 80C. Interest earned and the maturity amount are tax-free, which makes PPF one of the most popular small-savings instruments.

This calculator compounds your yearly deposit at the rate you enter for the chosen tenure and reports the maturity value, total invested and interest earned. Deposits can be made in a lump sum or in instalments, and the interest is calculated on the lowest balance between the 5th and the last day of each month, so depositing before the 5th helps.

The rate changes every quarter, so update the field to the current rate for accuracy. You can extend the account after 15 years, with or without further contributions, which this tool handles by letting you pick a longer tenure.

Use it to plan a tax-efficient, risk-free corpus for retirement or a child's future. Even the minimum annual deposit of ₹500 grows meaningfully over 15 years. Always confirm the current rate and rules on the official India Post or bank website.
